Waxing Contraindications & Precautions

 

Clients should avoid waxing if any of the following apply:

 

  • Active sunburn, open cuts, wounds, or skin infections in the area to be waxed

  • Recent chemical peel or exfoliating treatment in the area (usually 5–7 days)

  • Use of strong prescription acne medications (Accutane, Retin-A, Differin, etc.)

  • Use of topical antibiotics or retinol within 5–7 days of waxing

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding (some areas may be more sensitive; consult your esthetician)

  • Severe varicose veins in the legs (avoid waxing directly on them)

  • Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or severe rosacea in the area to be waxed

  • Recent laser treatments in the area (usually avoid waxing for at least 2 weeks post-treatment)

  • Any allergies or sensitivities to wax ingredients (check with your esthetician for alternatives)
